Sister Angela Bernard of Mary

Sister Ann Marie James
Towards the end of 2019, the news was circulated that the time had come for many Little Sisters to embark on a new mission. Among them was the transfer of Mother Ann, Provincial Superior of the Province of Oceania. Her mandate was expiring after 12 years spent in this Province. Mother Ann, a Londoner, had spent her early years serving in the Home of the U.K. then studied in Rome before going to Dublin to take up the role of novice mistress. Her next mission was to France. Mother Ann was then asked to really put out into the deep and arrived ‘down under’ to take up the charge of Provincial Superior for the Province of Oceania. She has served the Province untiringly, endeared herself to Sisters, Residents and Collaborators alike, and was responsible for renovating and establishing new buildings for the comfort of the elderly.
The upside of the pandemic allowed us to enjoy an extra 12 months with her. Mother Ann finally arrived in France in January 2021 and is now installed as Provincial of the Province of Montpellier, France.
Mother Angela has accepted her charge as the new Provincial Superior of Oceania. Mother has ben in this Province for 13 years. Being of Scottish origin, she had spent most of her time in U.K. and Ireland and was formator for the young Little Sisters in Leeds, England. She has also taken on the Aussie spirit since arriving ‘down under’ and has served in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Sisters, Residents and all who have met her wish her a very warm welcome to her new mission.
