Sydney - Sportsman's Lunch

Sunday 12th July 2015 was the day the Sportsman’s lunch was held at South Sydney Juniors, Kingsford.  The purpose of this lunch was to raise funds for the Sydney building project.

Through the generosity of the participants and the hard work of the organizing committee, a total of $40,500.00 was raised

The function was organized by Kevin Barron, Fund Raising Coordinator, who is affiliated with racing and sport.
The event was widely advertised, especially by the sisters visiting nearby parishes, selling raffle and luncheon entry tickets.  Sunday 12th July was predicted to be wet, cold and windy but by lunchtime the rain had ceased and the sun was shining.

There were 179 participants gathered at South Sydney Juniors  for the luncheon. After the usual meetings, greetings and sharing, the meal was served.  Mr. Steve Gillis and Mother Elizabeth Anne welcomed all present.   The gathering was then entertained by Ken Calendar, former radio announcer; Malcolm Johnston, Jockey trainer and Cameron McGuinness, upcoming South’s Player. They shared their life stories and the events that have  influenced and shaped them to this present day.

The sumptuous meal and choice of drinks were enjoyed by all.

A silent auction was held and t
he raffle was a great attraction, especially as the first prize was $1,000.00

To conclude, Mother Elizabeth Anne thanked all present for their generosity, with special thanks to Kevin Barron and his team for organizing and bringing this great event to fruition.
