The Little Sisters of the Poor manage not-for-profit Homes and do not accept any form of permanent income.
The fact that we continue to exist for over 185 years testifies to our foundress St Jeanne Jugan’s wisdom in trusting Divine Providence – God’s goodness through the kindness of friends and benefactors.
Jeanne Jugan went begging with her little basket and today the Little Sisters do the same visiting businesses and markets asking for items to offset operating expenses.
Little Sisters also visit shopping malls and parishes, usually over the weekends, seeking support.
We owe our benefactors and friends a lot! And we pray daily for them just as St Jeanne Jugan did!
"What gratitude we owe our benefactors, she said, … What could we do for the elderly without them?"
