This month, 520 pilgrims from Melbourne will be travelling to Lisbon, Portugal, to gather with millions of young people from across the world to celebrate the 16th World Youth Day with Pope Francis.
Sunday, 16th July, 2023 was the Commissioning Mass for the Melbourne pilgrims.
Our Sisters were present to support the pilgrims, including grandchildren and friends of our Residents who will be attending.
During the commissioning ceremony each pilgrim was asked to take up the call to pilgrimage, to give their wholehearted "YES" to go with faith on the journey to Lisbon; to commit to care for one another in physical and spiritual health; to take with them the intentions and prayers of family, friends and parishioners who remain behind.
Blessing of pilgrims: All powerful God, you always show mercy towards those who love you. Bless your servants who set out on this holy pilgrimage and guide their way in accordance with your will. Shelter them with your protection by day, give them the light of your grace by night, and as their companion on the journey bring them to their destination in safety.
